Product Description A retired cook, the father of 3 adult daughters, attempts to run their lives in the same efficient manner he managed the kitchen of his restaurant.
Amazon.com The tantalizing genre of food films--stretching from Babette's Feast to Big Night and beyond--has a delicious new addition, Tortilla Soup. The food-preparation scenes will make your mouth water. Fortunately, the rest of the movie holds up as well. Hector Elizondo plays Martin, a widowed chef who is losing both his sense of taste and control over his three daughters: Leticia (the always superb Elizabeth Peña), a religious schoolteacher; Carmen (Jacqueline Obradors), a successful but unhappy businesswoman still carrying on an affair with her ex-boyfriend; and Maribel (Tamara Mello), a rebellious teen falling in love with a young Brazilian. When a pushy, nosy, but very sexy widow named Hortensia (Raquel Welch) comes along, the troublesome subcurrents in the family start to surface. Elizondo's understated gravitas anchors the story, while the three sisters have sex, eat amazing-looking food, and break plates in the kitchen. --Bret Fetzer

TORTILLA SOUP, 2010-08-14 The past couple of years, my sister and I have seen only bits and pieces of this movie on TV.. Finally, we got to see the entire movie from beginning to end. For me it ranks right up on the top of my favorites from years past. It's a great family movie and all that good cooking,, makes you hungry. The cast is great and sorry to say I haven't seen any of the cast since ?? except for the leads.. If you're looking for some laughs, good food and a fine family story this is the one for you... It's definitely not boring..This movie could be on it's way to be a classic....

Tortilla Soup great for Mexican American culture, 2010-05-22 A fun remake of Eat Drink Man Woman, not quite as good as the original. Hector Elizondo is fabulous as the understated paterfamilias.
FAULTY PRODUCT, 2010-04-28 PBshop sent the Tortilla Soup DVD but it would not play. It said playback prohibited by area limitations, and had German language notes on the front of it. I sent 2 emails to PBshop and they have not even given me the courtesy of a response. Dont think they are vey reputable if they do not respondd to a problem.
Very good, 2010-04-02 Well, I can't tell you why I liked this movie, I just liked it, how they cooked and talked about the personal satisfaction to cook. My wife makes fun of me for buying it.
Price was good, delivery time excelent, what else can I ask for?
Tortilla Soup, 2009-08-25 I thought this was a cute and funny movie. I love the actors and it does represent the Hispanic culture. Also, the title is Yummy
