Description Academy Award® winner* Marisa Tomei (In the Bedroom) and Vincent D'Onofrio (Men in Black) star in this "touching love story" (Boxoffice) about a neurotic New Yorker, her highly eccentric boyfriend and their extraordinary connection. "Cleverly plotted [with] an abundance of heart" (The New York Times), this captivating romance will make you crazy for love! Ruby (Tomei) is a hopeless romantic who's always attracted to the wrong kind of guy until shemeets Sam (D'Onofrio). He's sweet, sensitive, sincere and from the year 2470. Despiteor maybe because ofhis bizarre claims to have traveled back in time to save her, Ruby falls for Sam. And while common sense says he's crazy, her heart says he's the one.
Amazon.com This unusual but strikingly affecting movie stars Marisa Tomei as Ruby, a young woman with a string of bad relationships behind her, who falls in love with a guy named Sam (Vincent D'Onofrio, Full Metal Jacket, The Whole Wide World). Initially, Sam just seems quirky, but eventually he tells her his secret: he's a time traveler from 400 years in the future. Happy Accidents walks a delicate line between genres, never making it clear whether Sam is delusional or telling the truth until the end. The strange blend of genres (which plays like romantic comedy, not like science fiction) may make some viewers balk, but writer-director Brad Anderson (Next Stop Wonderland) has a gift for both revealing psychological insights and sensual moments--like when Sam explains principals of time travel by running his hands up Ruby's leg--that, combined with the superb cast, are constantly engaging and sincerely touching. --Bret Fetzer

I loved this movie, 2009-07-10 I really loved this movie. It was very well acted and kept me interested throughout the film.
Good actors---weak story line, 2008-12-24 The acting was superb but the story line was pretty weak. The movie would have been a lot better if it were a lot shorter. It seemed to go on and on and I guessed some of the surprises before they happened. Watch it if you're curious. I don't think it deserves all the rave reviews.
Quirky Romantic Comedy, 2008-10-30 If you like the main actors, you will most likely like the movie. It's quirky, it's different, and has humor incidents probably more women than men will identify with. I would say more of a chick flick.
One god-awful movie...a waste of time, 2009-08-30 We had never heard of this movie before, and we thought, 'Marisa Tomei, Vincent D'Onofrio, in what appears to be a romance story....might be pretty good.'
Nothing could be further from the truth. This is without a doubt one of the worst movies we have *ever* seen. Incoherent story line, nothing in it to hook your interest, *bad* acting (especially from these two usually great actors -- what were they thinking when they agreed to make this pile of *&%$#@%?).
Our only conclusion was that (1) they did it just for the money, or (2) whoever edited the thing left the coherent, good acting/scenes on the cutting room floor, and spliced together this mess with the leftovers.
DON'T waste your time on this --- you've been warned!! :-)
Very romantic, sweet time-travel love story, 2008-10-31 Wow! I loved this movie! I never would have guessed that a romantic-comedy could double as a sci-fi flick, but Happy Accidents does just that beautifully. I've always been a fan of Marisa Tomei's so it's no surprise that I thought she was great in this -- all of the actors were terrific.
The story is romantic and sweet, but with substance. It's a thinking girl's (or guy's) romantic-comedy. I found myself rooting for the main characters, no matter how implausible their plight because that's what good movies are supposed to be able to do: move the audience into suspended belief.
If you want a romantic, feel-good movie about the power of love, you can't do better than this.
