Editorial Review
Description
For pulse-pounding suspense and relentless thrills, nothing can match HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS -- one of the most frightening chapters in the chilling HALLOWEEN series! In a single horrifying night, Michael Myers' masked reign of terror changed Halloween forever! Now, six years after he was presumed dead in a fire, Myers has returned to kill again -- and this time there's no escape! As the homicidal fury builds to a spine-tingling cliimax, the long-hidden secrets of the screen's most maniacal murderer are revealed ... with shocking results! Starring a thrilling cast including legendary Donald Pleasence (HALLOWEEN, THE ADVOCATE) and Paul Rudd (THE CIDER HOUSE RULES, CLUELESS).

The series premise continues to stretch so thin it could dissipate. This time, Michael Myers chases his unfortunate niece around, then goes after a family who happen to be living in his former home. This is slasher-ism at its most cynical, and a thoroughly unpleasant, unimaginative, and unredeeming movie. Donald Pleasence, the one holdover from the original film, looks like he'd rather be anywhere than in this thing. --Tom Keogh

6.6 THE FILM ITSELF

Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers is a decent film. However, much like the rest of the films in the series, it has some interesting moments, but nowadays more laughably bad moments and ridiculous characters. I mean, seriously. No one sees a freakin' blood trail or finds a crying baby in some random train station / business in the middle of a busy day? Seriously? But aside from the that the new spin here is that Michael is part of a cult called the "Thorn"... er, something like that.

Bottom line: It's a passable film that is fun to watch when you want to reminisce about such a profitable franchise and to remember just how far the series has come since the original film.

7.0 VISUALS
Nothing special here. Alot of grain, and blacks. Nothing stands out, and no special effects really needed or shown. But luckily the movie doesn't need fantastic visuals to still be "scary" (for some).

6.5 SOUND
The typical theme is here which is the best part of the movie. Dialogue is cheesy at times and there's no use of ambience or sound effects for home theater nuts.

3.0 PACKAGING
Nothing special, actually, just plain bad. I wish the creators and the company would've spent more time building up these films instead of just sending them to DVD with bland menus.

0.0 EXTRAS
Absolutely nothing here. Bare bones DVD. Just the film. Unexcusable.

IN CLOSING
The film is mediocre, and passable at best. A new wrinkle in the mythology of the show is nice and mixes some things up. But the film certainly isn't scary for anything - especially after all these years. But for fans of the series or horror movies in general, there will be some fun in watching this film. No special features at all though really makes this DVD set a let down. Is this the VHS age or what?

Halloween 6 is the best since the first and way better than 7,8 and the remake.

HALLOWEEN:The Curse Of Michael Myers which is the 6th sequel to the Halloween saga and should've been called HALLOWEEN 6: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS was a so-so kind of movie.

It was okay, but it wasn't that great and was somewhat predictable since a lot of the same sort of action and plot happens again in this movie such as immature teenagers partying, getting high, teenagers having premarital sex, and always having the jerks and the teens who get laid die off, just like all those characters did in the first 5 Halloween installments and just like they always do in your typcial horror flick including all the FRIDAY THE 13TH's, the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET's, HELL NIGHT, PROM NIGHT, THE HOUSE ON SORORITY ROW, etc.; except in this HALLOWEEN sequel Laurie Strode's alcoholic abusive father John Strode(Bradford English)decides to be optimistic by buying the old Myers house and move his family in there since he was never able to get that house sold after being vacant for at least over 30 years since every Haddonfield resident felt the Myers house was haunted ever since Michael Myers killed his sister at age 6 in 1963, but John and his wife(Kara Strode)end up dying off in the middle of this movie and the Myers house blows up into smithereens at the end of the movie while being chased by the relentless Michael Myers(George Wilbur).

This horror flick also takes me back to memory lane to when I was still living in the Imperial Valley in my hometown(El Centro,CA)when Halloween VI had it theatrical release in the Fall of 1995.
