Album Description Corinne Bailey Rae's new album, The Sea was co-produced by Bailey Rae with Steve Brown, and Steve Chrisanthou, who produced many of the songs on her debut album, which has sold four million copies worldwide. Bringing together a new band of musicians, Bailey Rae recorded the album mainly in Leeds and Manchester, England. Her voice, always an expressive and soulful instrument, resonates with a poignant and newfound depth on The Sea. Loss and grief are recurring themes yet a sense of beauty and wonder ultimately radiates from the album's dark corners.

Talented songstress belts them out, 2010-03-09 The new album from Corinne Bailey Rae is filled with the kind of evocative longing that only someone who has lost a beloved one can deliver. Her songs are at once sad and happy, if that is possible, and the entire CD is filled with listenable tracks. I love it!
Stunning and soothing, 2010-03-09 At the first listen, I felt oddly let down...But then I started to read the lyrics...and now I'm addicted. I have listened to this album almost everyday for the past few weeks. Beautiful, haunting, varied, and substantial. A must-listen.
The Sea, 2010-03-13 My early pick for Album of the Year! Corinne is simply an amazing singer and songwriter, and does a fantastic show.
Poetic, 2010-03-13 a true glimpse of corinne... i almost feel guilty eavesdropping... beautiful music... soulful delivery... it's often hard to understand in the beginning, but the more yo listen... you find it becomes clear... i actually made my own version with the songs in a more palatable order... because the mood is quite melancholy on most of the tracks... i chose to group the more upbeat osngs together and when i'm in the mood i'll shuffle between the songs. but each song is awesome in it's own way... so very poetic
Jus didn't like it., 2010-03-08 Found it to be boring and typical...sounded like an album full of "unreleased rarites." Although I empathize wit her loss, I hope she doesn't continue on the path of mourning for her next project. I don't mind it being "dark", but the are many albums/songs with even darker subject matter (take Clapton's "Tears In Heaven" for example) that are classic.
